This Halloween, I pursued a passion project I’ve been wanting to tackle: a “Witchy Wallflower” series. I’ve long dreamed of making up witches of different aesthetics, with matching backgrounds to reflect them blending in with society. Each witch would have a different back story and style, with handmade clothing and hats to reflect their particular aesthetics. Spoonflower was the perfect partner for this, so I made a pitch and asked them if they’d like to partner. To my delight, they said yes!
Here’s a bit about Candy, the mod dolly witch:
Candy had big Hollywood dreams, but after losing a role on Laugh-In to a certain adorable and bubbly blonde, she dedicated her life to more serious endeavors. Like perfecting the arts of transformation and time travel, and mentoring wayward kittens.
For Candy’s dress, I used the vintage McCall’s pattern 3483 and Spoonflower’s multicolor vintage floral fabric in Organic Cotton Sateen from Michelle Parascandolo. The matching wallpaper is their peel and stick wallpaper in the same print. Shoes are Jeffrey Campbell Monsieur. Learn how to make the no sew witch hat in this video.
